Within the framework of the official mission of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) to Rome, the president of the institution, Deputy Rolando González Patricio, held a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of the Italian Senate, Gian Marco Centinaio, accompanied by the Executive Secretary of PARLATINO, Elías A. Castillo G.
During the meeting, President González Patricio highlighted that PARLATINO represents 23 national congresses of Latin America and the Caribbean, and also has observer parliaments from various regions of the world.
President González Patricio presented the Parliamentary Alliance for Climate Action and Just Transition (APACTJ), an initiative driven by PARLATINO and constituted on June 5th. He explained the institutional structure of the body, detailing the functioning of its 13 permanent commissions, which address key issues for regional development.
Both the Vice President Centinaio and President González Patricio emphasized the importance of interinstitutional work as a tool to face shared challenges and promote coordinated legislative solutions.
The meeting reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to parliamentary diplomacy, the strengthening of interregional ties, and the construction of a common agenda based on dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect.
