Two-year-old child strangled by jacket at nursery

In a tragic incident, a two-year-old child died after being strangled by his jacket while playing at a nursery. It was reported that Leonardo Ricci was in the courtyard of the nursery in Pieve Santo Stefano, near Arezzo, central Italy, when the tragedy occurred this month. According to the Italian news site La Stampa, he may have been running or trying to climb when the strap of his jacket got caught on what appeared to be a tree branch, strangling him. Moments later, nursery staff found him unconscious, and emergency services were called. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the child, but unfortunately, they could not save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Subsequently, the police evacuated the nursery and set up security barriers to continue the investigation after the public prosecutor's office opened a case of involuntary manslaughter. The Quine cooperative, which runs the nursery, said: 'We find no words to alleviate the excruciating pain felt by the parents and family of the child who lost his life this morning. This tragedy also saddens us deeply, because we feel that the children who greet us with a smile every morning are our children. Our staff, overwhelmed by shock and astonishment at this tragedy, have prepared to appear before the investigators'.
