Update on Pope Francis's Health: Critical Yet Stable

Pope Francis, 88 years old, is hospitalized due to pneumonia in both lungs. Despite additional complications due to his age, it has been reported that he had a stable night and has rested well in his papal suite on the tenth floor of the medical center.

The Vatican has communicated that the Pope shows positive signs of improvement in some lab tests, has not presented recent asthmatic crises, is eating normally, and has been able to receive the Eucharist. Although his health condition is delicate, doctors avoided giving a definitive prognosis and warned that recovery will be a slow process.

Francisco was hospitalized on February 14 for respiratory difficulties and bronchitis, which later became complicated. On Saturday, he suffered a prolonged asthmatic attack and hematological issues, which led to the administration of oxygen and a blood transfusion. However, on Monday it was confirmed that he has not had new respiratory episodes and is responding to antibiotic treatment.

The Pope's doctor, Luigi Carbone, has noted that he remains a fragile patient, while the director of the Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Massimo Andreoni, indicated that recovery from bilateral pneumonia, especially in an elderly person, will require time and patience.
