Pope Francis Advocates for Peace and Disarmament

Pope Francis expressed his gratitude for the words of support received during his illness, highlighting that in moments of fragility, war seems even more absurd. In a letter addressed to the director of the newspaper Corriere della Sera, the Pope urged to disarm both words and minds, thus disarming the Earth.

The Pontiff reflected on the tendency to deny limits and to avoid fragile people, who have the power to question individual and community choices. He emphasized that war only brings devastation without offering solutions to conflicts, and advocated for the need to renew diplomacy and international organizations.

Francisco encouraged everyone to think about the importance of words, especially in a world where real-time communication connects people. He highlighted the relevance of reflection, calmness, and understanding of complexity in the construction of human environments, and urged religions to revitalize the desire for fraternity, justice, and peace through spirituality.

The papal letter, titled "War is Absurd, Let's Disarm the Earth", was written from the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome and emphasized that words are not mere expressions, but facts that influence society. The Pope concluded by calling for commitment, work, silence, and words united in an inspired effort accompanied by heavenly Grace. According to Francisco, words can connect or divide, serve the truth or make use of it.
