This morning, Pope Francis received respiratory physiotherapy and continued his rest at the Gemelli hospital in Rome. In the afternoon, he visited the chapel of the Pope's private apartment, where the faithful left flowers and candles wishing him a swift recovery. Afterwards, he attended to work matters, such as studying and signing documents.
The medical report from Wednesday confirmed a slight improvement in the health of the pontiff, showing a normal evolution in his lungs affected by pneumonia. The previous night was calm for him; he had breakfast, sat in an armchair, and ate solid food while continuing with his therapy and medical tests.
Despite his improvement, Pope Francis still requires oxygen therapy, although to a lesser extent. According to Vatican sources, the Pope has overcome the critical phase of his condition, related to a respiratory crisis, anemia, and low platelet levels.
The medical report from this Thursday indicated continued improvement for the Pope, alternating between high-flow oxygen therapy and an oxygen mask. For the moment, his prognosis remains cautious, and more days of clinical stability are needed to assess his progress. All his commitments planned for the weekend have been canceled.
On the other hand, the Vatican will continue to organize prayers for the health of Pope Francis, with the participation of the faithful from around the world and the Cardinal Vicar presiding over the ceremonies.
