The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) expressed its support and wishes for a speedy recovery to Pope Francis, who remains hospitalized at the Gemelli Polyclinic in Rome. The Supreme Pontiff is suffering from respiratory and kidney problems that keep him in critical condition with an uncertain prognosis.
Through a statement, the CGT sent its thoughts to the 88-year-old Argentine Pope: "The workers of Argentina pray for you." The trade union center also expressed solidarity by joining the millions of people around the world who send affection and good wishes to Francis, considered a global leader.
Héctor Daher, one of the secretaries general of the CGT, led a delegation that met with the Pope at the Vatican in September 2024. This was the last time the labor union had direct contact with the Supreme Pontiff.
