Roma Equals Napoli in Serie A Standings

Roma equaled Napoli at the top of the Serie A standings after a 2-1 victory over Parma in the ninth round of the Italian league. Meanwhile, Como reached fourth place after defeating Hellas Verona 3-1, and Juventus ended its poor run with a 3-1 win over Udinese. Roma secured a crucial win at the Olympic Stadium and returned to the top of the table with 21 points from nine matches, the same as Napoli. After a goalless first half, Mario Hermoso opened the scoring with a precise header from a Paulo Dybala assist, marking his first goal for the Roma shirt. The narrow lead held until Ukrainian Artem Dovbyk capitalized on a loose ball in the box to make it 2-0. However, Parma pulled one back five minutes from time through Alessandro Circati, but it was not enough to change the final result of 2-1. Como defeated Hellas Verona 3-1 to move into fourth place in the table. Inter got back to winning ways in Serie A with a 3-0 thrashing of Fiorentina at the Giuseppe Meazza, a result that capped off a swift recovery for the side after their defeat to Napoli in the previous round. The visitors' resistance was broken by Hakan Calhanoglu, who opened the scoring with a long-range strike that left the opposing goalkeeper helpless. Shortly after, the team coached by Simone Inzaghi doubled their lead with Petar Sucic, who made it 2-0 in a move that confirmed the home side's dominance and left Fiorentina with no way back. In the closing stages, Inter sealed the win from the penalty spot, again with Calhanoglu, who coolly converted his brace to make it a definitive 3-0 at the 90-minute mark. With this result, Inter recorded seven wins in their last eight league matches and strengthened their position in the race for the top spots. The team of Cesc Fàbregas struck early at the 8-minute mark with a header from Anastasios Douvikas following a cross from Álex Valle, a move in which Nico Paz was the protagonist from the previous play. Verona equalized at the 25-minute mark when Suat Serdar capitalized on an error by goalkeeper Jean Butez. In the second half, Federico Gatti restored the lead by heading in a cross from Andrea Cambiaso. In the closing minutes, Kenan Yildiz sealed the result with another penalty. The victory brought relief to the Old Lady after three consecutive defeats and allowed them to reposition themselves in the competition. Serie A round results: Bologna 0-0 Torino, Genoa 0-2 Cremonese. Como reached fourth place provisionally and maintained their momentum in the league. In Turin, Juventus halted a seven-match winless run with a 3-1 victory over Udinese. Dusan Vlahovic opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 5th minute. Udinese leveled the score just before halftime with a left-footed strike from Nicolò Zaniolo. The home response was immediate. In the second half, a free-kick from Paz led to a save and subsequent cross, with Stefan Posch heading in to make it 2-1. In stoppage time, Mërgim Vojvoda sealed the deal on the counter-attack.
