Tens of migrants were transported from Albania to Italy by a boat, all in one day before the Italian authorities once again launched a strike on the migration project.
According to the Italian authorities, a car with more than 35 migrants on board was intercepted at a checkpoint in Southern Italy. These migrants were moved to a paramilitary unit to be delivered to the port of Gela, a port in Sicily, and undergo registration procedures.
One of the migrants, who spoke anonymously, said: "We are glad that we managed to reach Italy and hope for a better future here."
This operation occurred following an Italian court's decision to arrest two boats, which had been abandoned in the rescue of migrants in the Mediterranean, highlighting the problems and complexities that refugees and migrants face trying to reach Europe.
