On Saturday, the Italian Ministry of Defense announced that a military aircraft of the Italian Air Force has taken off.
It was specified that the mission of the flight was related to the transportation of immigrants from Lampedusa to the mainland.
"Our forces continue to operate and maintain control over our maritime borders. We act in the field of security and it is important to assist those in a vulnerable position," noted the representative of the Ministry of Defense.
