A boat with migrants sank in the Mediterranean Sea. The rescue services discovered only six bodies. According to a statement from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the migrants were on board a boat that had set off from Libya. It is not yet clear how many people were on the vessel, as well as their nationalities and ages. According to Charles Onganga, representative of the center for coordinating and rescuing migrants at sea, the operation to search for missing people is still ongoing.
"This is already the fourteen tragedy in the last ten days in this region," emphasized the authoritative organization. Rescuers have collectively come to the aid of around five hundred migrants over the last 48 hours, according to IOM. According to preliminary data, more than three hundred people have drowned in international waters of the same sea since the beginning of the year. The absolute majority of the deceased were on boats that had set off from Libya.
