Italy Drops Tax Evasion Investigation Against Google

In the midst of the Italian prosecutor's office, it was announced the cessation of investigations into the case of tax evasion against Google. The case was opened in 2007 due to allegations that Google was evading tax payments amounting to billions of euros.

"The conclusion of the Google case was final. We are indeed what we stated, we are pleased with the completion of this case. We see it as a significant task of our activity, an important role that we play in ensuring compliance with all forms of criminal offense and adherence to the law," - stated prosecutor Alessandro Gormanti.

This decision followed Google agreeing to settle the dispute with the Italian tax authorities. The company paid Italy about 306 million euros as compensation for the overdue taxes.
