Moderators, my mafia!

The world of board games has found itself at the epicenter of a scandal, triggered by a German mafia game after sharp criticism of its Italian counterpart. The essence of the game "La Famiglia - The Great Mafia War" is based on events of the Great Mafia War in the 1980s, when brutal battles for control were waged among rival families in Southern Italy.

Despite the prestigious award "Golden Ace," awarded to the game at the International Cardboard Games Festival in 2024, its release in Italy has provoked fiery reactions. Alessandra di Leo, a regional politician from the "Forza Italia" party, shared her opinion in the newspaper "Corriere della Sera," stating: "This product not only scorns the rights of Sicilians, but also diminishes the significance of the ongoing struggle of millions of citizens fighting for legality and justice in our region."

Di Leo addressed the President of the Sicilian region Renato Schifani with a request to ban the distribution of this game.
