Controversy Over Donald Trump Jr.'s Hunting in Venice

Donald Trump Jr has sparked outrage in Italy after images surfaced depicting him hunting birds in a protected area of the Venice Lagoon. A video showed the son of President Trump participating in the hunt alongside a group of friends in an area that, according to members of Italy's Green Party, is under protection.

The Greens demanded that the Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, provide explanations to Parliament. MP Luana Zanella stated: "We ask the Minister of Environment to explain what happened, as hunting protected species is a crime, and if it is true that Donald Trump Jr was among the participants."

Regional MP Andrea Zanoni reported that the images showing Donald Trump Jr shooting at ducks were filmed in Valle Pirimpie, in Campagna Lupia, an area protected by European regulations and part of a Natura 2000 site in the EU.

In the video, Trump’s son is seen describing the shot ducks, including a Casarca, a rare orange-oxide duck in Europe. Zanoni emphasized that hunting is prohibited for non-residents in Italy.

The controversy has reached the Regional Council of Veneto and is expected to be debated in the Italian Parliament as well.
