Tennis player Jannik Sinner has maintained an impressive streak by winning his last nine matches at the ATP Finals, despite an unresolved doping case that is likely to be decided in early next year. Sinner tops his group after defeating Russian Daniil Medvedev, the tournament champion in 2020, with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Meanwhile, American Taylor Fritz advanced as second in his group after a victory over Australian Alex de Minaur with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Both Medvedev and De Minaur were eliminated after failing to perform sufficiently in their respective matches.
Sinner will face Medvedev in the semifinals, creating anticipation for the matchup. The Italian commented, “I feel like he typically plays better in a team environment.” Fritz, for his part, expressed his respect for Sinner: “It’s still going to be a nightmare to play against him again next week.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his doping case, which will be resolved early next year, Jannik Sinner continues to show a high level at the ATP Finals. In the previous edition, Sinner lost in the final to Novak Djokovic, who is not competing this time due to injury.
The tournament also features Alexander Zverev leading the other group, followed by Casper Ruud, Carlos Alcaraz, and Andrey Rublev. With a favorable 8-7 record over Medvedev, Sinner is preparing for the next challenge in the semifinals.
