Over a hundred individuals attacked the offices of the newspaper La Stampa in Turin, Italy. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when a group of protesters, participating in a peaceful march in solidarity with Palestine, deviated from the route and stormed the newspaper's building. Due to a national strike by journalists, the offices were empty, so there were no injuries. The attackers, mostly wearing masks, forced doors, vandalized offices, and left graffiti. The slogans included "Free Palestine" and "Journalists complicit in the arrest of Mohamed Shahin at the CPR." Among the graffiti were phrases like "Journalist, I'll kill you" and a rhyming threat: "Journalist, terrorist, you're next on the list." The prosecutor's offices of Turin and Ivrea have launched an investigation to identify the attackers. So far, 34 individuals have been identified, but no arrests have been reported. The attack was condemned across the entire Italian political spectrum. Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi sent messages of support to the newspaper's directorate and staff. Turin's mayor, Stefano Lo Russo, declared that "the intrusion and damage are unacceptable, and we hope the culprits are identified and prosecuted by the police as soon as possible." Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on the incident, stating that "it is very serious that, in the face of an episode of violence against a newspaper's editorial office, someone suggests that the responsibility lies – even in part – with the press itself." She emphasized that "freedom of the press is a pillar of our democracy and must always be defended without ambiguity."
