Lazio defeated Genoa 3-2 at the Olympic Stadium in the opening match of a new Serie A round. The game was marked by penalties and a changing course of play. When the result seemed controlled by the home team, Genoa found a way back to the game also from the penalty spot. Ruslan Malinovskyi executed with precision and brought the 'Grifone' back into the match. The reaction was completed at the 30th minute of the second half: after a corner kick from Malinovskyi that caused confusion in the area, Vitinha took advantage of the rebound and finished in the small area to make it 2-2. The draw was not definitive. In the final stretch of the match, Lazio had a new penalty and Danilo Cataldi did not fail to seal the 3-2 victory. With this win, the Roman side added three important points, while Genoa left with anger and remains compromised in the lower part of the Serie A table.
