Pope Francis Continues Hospitalization Due to Pneumonia

Pope Francis, who is struggling with a respiratory infection and is in critical condition, spent a calm night, as reported from the Vatican on Tuesday. The 88-year-old pontiff was hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital in Rome on February 14 due to severe respiratory failure caused by a pre-existing health condition.

"The Pope has slept well all night," - stated a brief announcement from the Vatican. On Monday, the Vatican reported that while the pontiff's condition remains critical, there has been "little improvement". They also confirmed that his "mild respiratory insufficiency", attributed to the hospital admission, does not pose a serious risk to his health.

Bronchial pneumonia is a severe lung infection that can cause breathing difficulties. The Vatican described the pontiff's condition as "serious" due to the involvement of several agents.

Pope Francis, who has been in office since 2013, has faced several health issues in recent years, particularly with respiratory infections, as part of one of the mild illnesses that led to a surgery in his youth.
