Pope Francis, who is currently in the hospital with pneumonia, is still under serious condition, according to his doctors. The 88-year-old pope, who was hospitalized last Friday due to breathing problems, showed slight improvement, allowing doctors to gradually reduce his medications, but his condition remains serious.

Professor Sergio Alfieri, speaking at a press conference in the Rome hospital Gemelli, confirmed the pope's grave condition, saying: "The question is, has the pope come out of danger?" Initially diagnosed with bronchiolitis, the pope's pneumonia progressed into a double pneumonia, causing uncertainty about his future and ability to continue leading the Catholic Church.

Alfieri explained that the main danger lies in the fact that the infection can spread to the bloodstream, which could potentially lead to sepsis. Dr. Luigi Carbone noted that the chronic lung condition of the pope, which arose after part of his lung was removed in his youth, makes him particularly vulnerable.

Despite his serious health, Alfieri emphasized the pope's outstanding resilience, praising his strength in facing multiple infections despite his necessary role.

"No, the pope is not in immediate danger." However, he concluded that Francis is not currently under a state of imminent death.
