Italian newspaper 'Corriere della Sera' reported that a man accidentally rolled over in his sleep onto his 10-month-old baby, blocking her airway. The tragic incident occurred in the municipality of Rieti. The man immediately called emergency services. Paramedics arrived and transported the infant in critical condition to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where she arrived last Sunday morning. The newspaper explained that doctors fought for three days to save the victim's life but were unable to do so. The prolonged cardiac arrest caused irreversible brain damage. It is not yet clear whether the father will face criminal charges in connection with the accident.
