Italian police have arrested the long-wanted leader of the Camorra mafia, Ciro Andolfi, after finding him hiding in a secret room behind a wall in an apartment in Naples. Andolfi was on the Italian Ministry of the Interior's list of the 100 most dangerous fugitives in the country. The 49-year-old had been on the run since 2022 and was sentenced to eight years and three months in prison for previous convictions, including membership in a criminal organization, extortion, and mafia-style corruption. Footage released by the Italian Carabinieri shows police entering the building at night before discovering the secret hiding place behind a wall in one of the rooms. Behind the wall, the video reveals a narrow passage leading to the hiding spot, which contained a small birdcage and a statue of the Madonna. The Camorra operates mainly in Naples and the surrounding Campania region. Unlike the hierarchical Cosa Nostra, the Camorra consists of independent clans.
