Inter Milan won 2-0 against Genoa at home in the 27th round of Italy's Serie A, getting closer to securing the title. The goals were scored by Italian full-back Federico Dimarco and Turkish player Hakan Calhanoglu, one in each half, allowing the 'Nerazzurri' to secure their eighth consecutive victory in the Italian league. The opening goal came at the half-hour mark when Dimarco finished with an excellent cross-volley following a great assist from Armenian Henrik Mkhitaryan. In the second half, with 70 minutes on the clock, Calhanoglu extended the lead and sealed the match with a superbly taken penalty, opening his foot as the opposing goalkeeper dived the other way. Inter could not count on Argentine forward Lautaro Martínez, one of their key figures, as he is still recovering from an injury he sustained just over a week ago. This victory not only allows Inter to move past the disastrous Champions League elimination against Norwegian Bodo/Glimt but also cements its position as the sole leader in Serie A. The team coached by Romanian Cristian Chivu reached 67 points, 13 ahead of their closest rival, Milan, although the latter have a game in hand. Third in the table is Napoli with 53 points, who earlier narrowly beat Hellas Verona thanks to a last-minute goal from Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku. In the other match played this Saturday, Como, with Argentines Nico Paz and Máximo Perrone (the latter provided an assist), thrashed Lecce 3-1 to move into fifth place and join the fight for qualification for next season's Champions League. Serie A action will continue this Sunday, highlighted by second-placed Milan's visit to Cremonese starting at 8:30 (Argentina time).
