AC Milan won against Inter in a new edition of the 'della Madonnina' derby held at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium. The match, part of the 12th round of Italy's Serie A, ended 1-0 for the visiting team. The only goal of the game was scored by American forward Christian Pulisic in the 9th minute of the second half. He managed to push the ball into the net after a rebound from the opposing goalkeeper, Yann Sommer. Although Inter had several opportunities to score in the first half, with shots on target from Francesco Acerbi and Lautaro Martínez, the score remained unchanged. In the second half, the 'Nerazzurri' had a chance to equalize from a penalty, but Hakan Çalhanoğlu could not beat AC Milan's French goalkeeper, Mike Maignan. As a result, AC Milan climbed to second place in the Italian league with 25 points, while Inter dropped to fifth with 24 points.
