Santiago Giménez Faces Number Change at AC Milan

Mexican forward Santiago Giménez, now with AC Milan, faces a number change as his preferred 29 is taken. He may adopt the vacant No. 7 instead.

Santiago Giménez Faces Number Change at AC Milan

Mexican forward Santiago Giménez, recently arrived at AC Milan, will face a challenge as he has to stop using his traditional number 29, which has accompanied him during highlight moments both at Cruz Azul and Feyenoord.

The reason for this situation is that the number 29 is already assigned in his new team to midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The other numbers he has used in his career are also being used by other players: the 11, which he usually wears for the Mexican national team, belongs to Christian Pulisic, and the 9, the number he wore at Cruz Azul, is now in the possession of Luka Jovic. According to Serie A rules, players must keep their number for the entire season, which complicates the possibility of any of his teammates giving up their jersey.

It is considered that Santiago Giménez could opt for number 7, recently freed up by Álvaro Morata, which would be suitable for a forward, as it is historically associated with great attackers and goal scorers. Number 10, also very iconic, is in the hands of Portuguese Rafael Leao, which positions 7 as the most likely alternative for the Mexican player.

Although the number change has not yet been officially announced, it is expected that the uncertainty will be clarified soon, perhaps during his official presentation, where the jersey number Santiago will wear during his stay in Italy will be revealed. The footballer's fans will be eager to personalize their shirts with the new number that the forward adopts.
