Countdown to Winter Olympics Begins in Milan

Italian organizers held a whole series of events, aimed at marking the start of the countdown to the Winter Olympics. In the Lombardy region, Milan, and the Alpine resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo, events were held aimed at raising the spirits of spectators and residents of the country ahead of the upcoming sporting event.

The opening ceremony of the Olympics will take place on February 3, 2026, and the first competitions will begin on February 4. The competitions will take place in two Italian regions – Lombardy and Veneto, where over a two-week period the best athletes in the world will compete for medals.

Italian decorations, symbolizing the Olympics, have been installed in the center of Milan, as well as in squares of other cities across the country. Various artistic, musical, and sporting events were organized, which were meant to attract attention to the upcoming sporting showcase.

An especially pleasing news for the residents of Italy was the news that the country became the leader in ticket sales for the Olympic Games even before they began. According to the organizers' estimates, about 60% of tickets have already been distributed, which indicates a high interest in the upcoming event.

One of the organizers of the event noted: "We are proud that our compatriots are so inspired by the upcoming Olympics. This is a serious motivation for us and confirmation that the preparation and holding of competitions will be at the highest level for all participants and spectators."
