The Prosecutor's Office in Milan, Italy, announced that Google has paid 326 million euros (340.11 million dollars) as part of an agreement regarding tax disputes. This was done to circumvent judicial investigations into allegations of tax evasion. Google aims to maintain compliance with all tax obligations in all countries where it operates.
According to Prosecutor Francesco Grettoli, the agreement for 346 million euros is part of a global agreement between the Finnish Ministry of Finance and Google representatives. Google’s actions were initiated in 2017, when the prosecution began investigating suspected tax evasion and illegal use of financial resources amounting to 1 billion euros. The agreement addresses the issue of Google’s tax obligations in Italy between 2002 and 2015.
Nevertheless, Google continues to challenge the total sum of tax obligations. "Google Italy did not reach an agreement regarding any allegations," said a representative of Google.
