The "Gucci" brand, belonging to the French holding of elite goods "Kering", announced yesterday the "termination of cooperation" with the technical director-designer Sabato de Sarno, who took up his position in early 2023. "Gucci" specified that the design team within the company will take on itself the composition of the autumn-winter 2025 collection, which will be presented on the 25th of this month in Milan. Information about the appointment of a new technical director will be announced later.
Sabato de Sarno, who previously worked at "Valentino", "Prada", and "Dolce & Gabbana", became the technical director at "Gucci" to replace Alessandro Michele, who held this position for seven years and left it at the end of 2022. Michele revitalized "Gucci" through bold, often colorful, and bright collections, but was unable to sufficiently boost sales to be effective in the conditions of tough competition.
The interim director of "Gucci" Stefano Cantino expressed regret regarding the "passing of Sabato de Sarno brand", considering his outstanding legacy as a "master (Gucci) and his successor". The head of the interim creative director of the holding "Kering", responsible for the development of fashion houses, Françoise Bélyettini, expressed the team's intention for "Gucci" to remain "a leader in the fashion world and to pursue sustainable growth."
