Olympic Condoms Run Out in Three Days

Organizers of the Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Olympics faced an unexpected problem: stocks of free condoms intended for athletes were completely depleted in just three days.

Olympic Condoms Run Out in Three Days

The Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Winter Olympics are not only setting sporting records but also creating unusual stories in the Olympic village. The center of attention has been the shortage of condoms in the village. Organizers reduced the number of free condoms from 300,000 to just 10,000 units, causing significant problems for athletes. In comparison to Paris 2024, where athletes received two condoms per day each, the situation has changed dramatically. An anonymous athlete stated: "The supplies ran out in just three days." This tradition, aimed at promoting safe sex and prevention, has turned into a real logistical challenge. Despite this, finding privacy for athletes is a separate task, considering that the Cortina village is a complex of 1,400 modular beds with common areas.
